General Changes for 4.41

The following general changes have been made for the 4.41 release:

New Licenses

  • With the license UCASHEConnector you can use ebs to import data about applicants to your HE courses from UCAS. This process allows you to import data from UCAS, but it does not send any data back.

ebs Central

  • Administrators can now identify which contact number should be used first by updating contact priority for learners with more than one contact.

  • Administrators can now identify a preferred method of communication for a learner.

  • Exam seating plans can now be copied from one paper to another. This makes it easy to schedule a group of students to take all of their papers in the same rooms and seats without duplicating effort.

  • On the exam entries grid there is a new field, Group. This field shows the tutor groups that a candidate is part of.

Engage

  • The logic that identifies learner applications has been modified to return all valid applicants. Prior to this release, some valid applications were being incorrectly excluded.

Applications will new be included in the sync if they:

    • have a record date in the current year

    • have null record data but have a created date in the current year. Where the current year is found using the current year dates from Institution Settings.

    • For a UIO with course dates that overlap the Current Application Year. Where the current application year is found using the current year dates from Institution Settings.

  • New institution settings have been added to the Engage section. These allow institutions to control the date ranges used to select data

screenshot of new institution settings in EngageThe default setting is 365, to match the previously hard coded value.

Multiple Support Needs Allowed

  • It is now possible for multiple Support Needs records to be created for a learner. This can be done regardless of the type, or start and end dates. Support Needs can be defined through Central, Ontrack Learner Hub, or via REST Webservice.

Performance Recommendations

  • In our performance recommendations we recommend enabling Legacy Cardinality Estimation. This will now be enforced in the installer for SQL Server 2019. It was already enforced for SQL server 2016 and 2017.

Safeguarding

  • A number of changes have been made to the User Interface to make the module easier to navigate and use.

  • Safeguarding Admins can now copy and edit existing record and note template to make it easier to make new ones.

  • Safeguarding Admins can now add images to note and record templates.

  • New options have been added to make it easier for Admins and Tutors to control the information that is shared with learners.
